Everyone

If (even at the last minute) you cannot travel, please try and cancel your booking with who ever has arranged it. This may save the booking and we may be able to re-book you at a later date.
Time of your departure

The time that you are given as the departure time of your plane or bus, is the actual time the doors will close and the wheels will start turning. You must plan to be at the place the bus or plane leaves from at least 30 minutes before this departure time, and if it is a big airport or terminal you must plan to be there 1 hour before departure. If you need to get someone to take you to your airport or bus terminal, try and organise it with them the day before. Don’t leave things until the last minute.

No-shows (if you miss your travel)

A “no-show” is when you say you will travel on the flight or bus that has been booked for you and………..you miss it. If you “no-show” more than once neither Abstudy nor Yalga-binbi will make any more bookings for you and in some cases you will need to pay the fare.
If you have a good reason for missing the plane or bus, you must show documents to support your claim. For instance, if you or your partner is sick, you would need a medical certificate from your clinic or doctor. If there was a death or you had community obligations that you didn’t know about until the last minute, then you would need a letter from your community council.
If you don’t have a really good reason for “no-showing”, you can pay for the cost of the “no-show” and Yalga-binbi or Abstudy will continue to book for you.

Stretching Your Legs

You may have heard in the news about DVT – deep vein thrombosis. This is when a blood clot forms after you have been sitting in a cramped position for a long time. It is important when travelling for long hours that you move your legs when ever possible – walk around between flights or when the bus stops, take a walk up the aisle, even just “wiggling” your legs and flexing your ankles if you can’t move around will help. Don’t sit with your legs crossed, this can cut off the circulation in your legs.

Things To Bring With You

  • A reminder of the things you will need to bring with you
