Certificate III in Home and Community Care
CHC30308

When students participate in the Aged Care training through Yalga-binbi Institute they will gain a double qualification: both the Certificate III in Aged Care and Certificate III in Home and Community Care.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN

From studying Aged Care students will gain practical skills in:

  • Carrying out activities to maintain personal care
  • Performing activities that are a part of an individualised care plan
  • Organising activities of daily living for people in their own homes, other community settings or residential facilities
  • Understanding and following policies and procedures within the workplace
  • Writing records, letters and filling in forms
  • Understanding the structure of the aged care industry and the quality assurance activities that govern it
  • Understanding administration procedures in an aged care setting

The aged care training will be conducted over four residential workshops. Each of the four workshops will run for one full week and an average of three to four topics will be delivered in each workshop.

The training will take approximately six months to complete, part-time. It has been designed this way so that the students are able to work within aged care settings to support the development of their skills and experiences with the aged.  Students who are not working in aged care settings will be required to gain practical workplace experiences to develop competency – the time this takes will vary for each person.
